After years of organizing events and experiencing the struggles of being single firsthand, Rivkah Esther Katz-Merville saw an opportunity to help friends find their special someone. After joining numerous groups, they were frustrated by the lack of meaningful information and endless back-and-forth. So, she created a fun, comprehensive questionnaire to truly understand who people are and what they're looking for.

-For some people it's just lurking in the chats, which at least adds #'s.
-Some people have ideas but don't really help with planning, sometimes that's nice.
-People host to different degrees. Sometimes they handle everything, like Michael Lurie did for Nosh Shabbat, sometimes they say "Lindsay, you are hosting but you can use my home and I will cook."
-Some people take photos at events which helps me make sure we captured attendance well.
-People notice when dates and times don't match up, or conflict with other big community happenings.
Events are held in the city of Baltimore at price points at or below a night out with your friends. In the common situation where Shalom Social Club is joining a larger event just look for black and white balloons and/or our double-arch logo at the venue to find our people.
While we are from a variety of backgrounds, Shalom Social Club strives to be inclusive. To that end, all scheduled events adhere to the following guidelines:
No events scheduled on Shabbat, from sundown on Friday to sundown on Saturday night.
While not everyone Jewish is religious, the event schedule will never conflict with Jewish holiday observance.
Vegetarian and ingredient-kosher food options will be available at all venues.
Estimated costs for events won't exceed that of your average date or night out with friends.
Whether you are a Jew-by-choice, conservative, reform, or just Jew-ish, we look forward to welcoming you and yours at a gathering soon.
To help make Shalom Social Club great! With dozens of gatherings since inception in January 2024, we are pleased to offer a full calendar of social options for those looking to meet and greet with other Jew-ish adults in and around Baltimore.
